"I know there are many atrocities in the world but this one really moved me." The venerable painter Richard Segalman speaks about some of his new work, which is, in part, a tribute to the Chibok schoolgirls, who were abducted by the Boka Haram in Nigeria in 2014. "I wanted to bring awareness to this situation and the only tool I really have is my work."
With over 20 years of collaboration between the artist and WFG Gallery, this collection of paintings is a verifiable departure from past exhibitions. The majority of paintings featuring groups of the victimized Nigerian girls is particularly striking when juxtaposed with paintings of incandescent women gazing at their reflections in the ubiquitous red mirror.
