40 Years of Rock Photography
From the collection of Joe Stefko

Oct. 8 - Nov. 27, 2016
Opening Reception: Saturday, Oct. 8 from 5-7pm
Q&A with Joe Stefko: November 5 at 4pm

Within the span of four decades, while on the road touring with various bands, Joe Stefko acquired an impressive collection of rock & roll related art that features iconic photographs printed from the original negatives. Stefko has handpicked forty pieces for this exhibition representing forty years of touring, including the Sgt. Pepper gatefold group shot, the back cover photo of The Beatles from Revolver, early shots of The Beatles in Hamburg by Astrid Kirchherr, as well as John Lennon's signed original Bag One lithographs.

Stefko was Meat Loaf's drummer in the original Bat Out of Hell band. He came to Meat's attention via a Rolling Stone Magazine interview as the pissed-off vegetarian drummer who walked off a London stage while Velvet Underground founder, John Cale, decapitated a chicken. Stefko has also played with Hot Tuna, Edgar Winter, Jim Steinman, Ian Hunter & Mick Ronson, Ellie Greenwich, Ellen Foley, Joe Walsh and Todd Rundgren. Stefko was the onstage drummer in the original Off-Broadway cast of Love, Janis, and is celebrating 40 years of drumming with The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie.

Stefko lives in the Hudson Valley with his dog, Bobby, where he designs and publishes hand made limited edition books with authors Dean Koontz, Harlan Ellison and Tim Powers; and rock lyric prints with Keith Reid of Procol Harum. (http://www.charnelhouse.com)
